Hope!! Bringing Awesome Back: Swiss Chalet Alpine China

How could you lot non beloved Swiss Alpine Chalet china? Yes, I'm talking most the china of everyone's grandma, amongst it's circular pattern of trees too leaves inwards night blue, moss greenish too low-cal turquoise blue.

Known every bit dime store dinnerware of the 1960's, this china—Mar-crest Swiss Chalet Alpine dinnerware—was oft used every bit an incentive to larn shoppers to store at local grocery stores. Stores would offering pieces of this dinnerware laid upwards for pennies to shoppers who showed construct loyalty past times shopping those stores too collecting points or spending a sure enough amount of coin inwards those stores.

I've seen this china on websites categorized every bit Mid-Century Modern dinnerware, too it is of course of didactics from that era/time period, but I personally don't intend of it every bit that "style" at all. Why? First, the manner of the leaves too trees are non every bit geometric too abstract every bit typical Mid-Century Modern (MCM) smooth-line styles. I intend that since this china was produced too pop during that fourth dimension menses - that folks only automatically categorized it as Mid-Century Modern

But to me, the design—and past times blueprint I hateful the china pattern motif itself— tells a much dissimilar story. Yes it's a repeating pattern, but too therefore is nearly every other china pattern. But similar I noted earlier, it's hardly abstract or geometric, such every bit the Cannonsburg Temporama pattern shown below.

Cannonsburg Temporama - an event of a Mid-century Modern Atomic design

The Swiss Chalet Alpine blueprint completely consists of images from nature. There are bluish too greenish leaves too trees, too smaller low-cal turquoise daisy-like flowers. There are no space-age, atomic, or futuristic designs inwards the pattern. I suppose it's the shape of the dinnerware pieces themselves, too the fourth dimension menses inwards which they were produced that categorize it every bit MCM.

Either way, it's a keeper! I run across this pattern tied into my ain manner past times combining it amongst lots of shades of earthy browns too warm copper.

I imagine the colors inwards the pattern every bit the brilliant pops that jump out to you lot from an earthy, neutral tabular array that verges on Rustic or Arts too Crafts style.

I intend the nature pattern itself leans much to a greater extent than towards hippie, bohemian styles of the 60's!  And I beloved it!

What hit you lot think?
Do you lot similar this pattern?

Does it choose dorsum whatever memories for you?

Have a non bad week!
