What a deviation a coat of pigment tin make!

I've been pining over the await of traditional vintage dining room sets amongst dark chairs too dark tabular array bottoms where the tabular array move past times is left amongst a natural woods finish. (similar to the tabular array too chairs shown inwards the photograph below)

This photograph was my color inspiration:
What a deviation a coat of pigment tin brand Hope!! Vintage Dining Room Set Makeover: Paint It Black
Inspiration photo

Then I came across an former dining room ready that was decent character too inwards pretty practiced shape, but desperately inwards request of a makeover. The hunter greenish chairs too tabular array were nevertheless living inwards the 80's! Thankfully the tabular array move past times was never painted, but left amongst it's beautiful natural woods finish. I knew thus too in that place that I had institute the perfect candidate to transform into the dining ready that I ever wanted!

Check out the earlier too afterward photos:
The former await (hunter greenish chair inwards front)
Versus the novel await (chair inwards dorsum newly painted black)

DIY: The commencement affair I did was take the seats from the chairs too painted the chairs black. I used Satin Black Rust-oleum satin pigment from a tin (classic low-sheen destination polish protective enamel paint.) I prefer manus icon amongst a brush every bit opposed to using cans of spray paint. Not entirely do I savour brush icon because I notice it relaxing, but I intend brush icon gives you lot a to a greater extent than finished, professional person look.

If you lot prefer spray painting, it's available inwards a spray pigment too!

After I painted the 4 chairs, I painted the bottom component division of the tabular array too the tabular array legs amongst the same paint. I left the tabular array move past times as-is, amongst it's natural woods finish. (you tin run across the tabular array move past times inwards the photos below) I dearest the await of the natural chocolate-brown woods against  sleek black! (Don't forget to pigment the extra table extension piece!)

The former topographic point cloth was outdated burgundy too was glued to the topographic point every bit opposed to beingness stapled, thus I was able to easily pare the former cloth correct off of the seat!

Next I pose out the former chair comprehend cloth over my novel cloth too used it every bit a template to become the correct size of stuff for each seat. I but cutting correct but about the former fabric, leaving an extra one-half inch or so. Easy!

Here you lot tin run across my novel cloth beneath the former fabric.

Next I pulled the novel cloth but about the topographic point too stapled amongst a staple gun.

The finished seat!

My newly revamped dining set! (everything that is dark used to live on hunter green)

I used Waverly "Farmer's Market" decor cloth from Joanne's Fabric store. I was thrilled to notice this fabric, which coordinated perfectly amongst my soon-to-be novel dining room pigment colors...
(yes I nevertheless bring to paint!)

This photograph was my wall color inspiration for my dining room too kitchen makeover (still a piece of occupation inwards progress!)

I wanted sage greenish walls inwards the kitchen too dining room (my kitchen leads into my dining room - the previous owners knocked downward the wall that separated the rooms) amongst 1 opposing dining room wall painted plum.  The pigment colors I chose were:
Sherwin William's Expressive Plum:

and
Sherwin Williams Garden Sage:

The icon starts this weekend too afterward it is finished I volition post service photos of the completed dining room makeover, thus live on certain to cheque back!

I promise you lot bring a keen week
Love, Laura
